Happy new year

Either as a student or as a teacher, I have spent practically my
whole life centering the measurement of a year on an academic calendar.
January 1st? Not such a big deal. The start of the school year, whether
it falls in early August or after Labor Day, has always been for me the
point of reflection and resolution that is traditionally reserved for
New Year's Day.

So to everyone, I wish you a happy new year. I
truly hope and pray that this year is the one in which your life's
wrongs are righted and your downs swing upward. May brighter days be
ahead for all of us.

Thank you all for the thoughts, kind
words, and views that you've shared in the comments the past few days.
If I haven't made it 'round your way lately, it's not because I don't
care. It's just that I'm up to my eyeballs in the new year.

Can't forget my handsome, cheesy-faced, cake-baking, recluse, half-brained, fantastic fartknocker Frank – oh, how I luurrrve him.

  1. Happy New Year! I hope yours is similarly filled with happiness and good things. Our year starts in a month, and I’m in denial about it. Eek.

  2. Happy New Year! Even though I’m not in school or teaching anymore I think it will always seem like new beginnings.

  3. Happy New Year, Moxie!
Oh, and thanks for teaching. I hope your students and their parents realize how lucky they are!

  5. New year, new notebooks, new habits (for a while anyway), new teachers, new friends…exciting! And nice to be back to a routine.
Good luck with getting into the groove. We’re gearing up here as well.

  6. What a beautiful family!!
We are getting ready here as well. My one and only, David, is starting Kindergarten in a few weeks!

  7. Happy New Year. I go back on the 19th and he boys on the 21st….ooh how the summer has flown by. I hope the same for the upcoming academic year.

  8. Baby Me thing here. As a student I used to start counting the year from the school start, that here it’s usually around Sept 15th. So … Happy New Year, Moxie, Frank, Jaiden, TJ, Kyra, Jordan, the little Kaelyn but also Dani & Chanel and last but not least Mommy Lady (btw we are all still waiting for the next rainbow color 😉 )
May this new year bring a lot of joy, good surprises, self discovery, and family spirit in all of us. Buon Anno Nuovo.
