Get ready for the upcoming Sock It to Me Week 2009

Did you miss out on the fun of the Sock It to Me Exchange? If you did, there's still a way that you can participate. The 62 bloggers and blog readers who signed up for the exchange about a month ago were assigned sock buddies to send a special pair of socks. The second leg of the Sock It to Me is coming up next week. During Sock It to Me Week (SITM Week), which is April 6-13, each of the participants will post a picture of the socks they received along with a post about this community provides them warmth, comfort, and support…just like a pair of cozy socks.

If you missed out on the exchange, it's too late to send and receive a pair of socks, but you can still participate in Sock It to Me Week by putting up a post about how this community has been a source of support and "warm and fuzzies" for you.

Here is what all SITM Week participants, both old and new, need to do:

  1. The week of April 6-13 is Sock-It-to-Me Week. Post a picture of your
socks (worn or not worn) with a link back to the blogger who sent them
to you. The topic of your post should be about what the support of this
community means to you and how it has helped and is helping you. It's a
week for warm and fuzzies. Like ummm…the socks.
  2. When you post, come back here with a link to your post and I'll keep a running list of the entries.

***If you missed out on the socks and are only putting up a post, please also come back with a link to your SITM post and you will be included on the list.
  3. On April 5, check back here to pick up your Sock It to Me participant award! Everyone who puts up a post gets a badge. Those who participated in the sock exchange part gets an Elite badge. Now don't you feel all special?
  4. Optional: Help spread the word about Sock It to Me Week by posting
about it TODAY with a link to this post. If already have the original SITM badge posted, please take that one down and replace it with the one below. Here's the code to a badge to promote SITM Week:

Lastly, I need your opinion: the SITM Exchange has been so much fun and many people unfortunately didn't find out about it until after the deadline. I'd like to make SITM a tradition. Do you think this project should be done yearly or every six months in March and September? I think doing it more frequently than every 6 months might be too much, but doing it every 6 months might give new bloggers a chance to participate without having to wait a whole year until the next round. Thoughts? Please let me know in the comments.

I can't wait to read everyone's posts!

I give mad props to my surrobuddy Kimmy for always answering my call for help with graphics. She designed all the SITM badges and also my kick-ass header. If you don't have any comments for me, drop Kimmy a line with a note about the awesomeness that is she. I know I've mentioned her before, but allow me to brag on her again. Surrogates after infertility like myself are a rare breed indeed. Kimmy is one of them. She had triplets after infertility, donated eggs to her sister (twins resulted), and she also went on to deliver TWO surrobabies – brothers a couple of years apart. She's a Superwoman in her own rights. Am I kissing ass? Totally. I have to keep her happy so she'll keep helping me when I whine about needing this, that, or the other. Just kidding. Love ya, Kimmy!

Remember that ridiculous post that I wrote a couple of months ago featuring Reproducina the Rainbow-Farting Unicorn and Fertie the Fuzzy Fertili-Bunny? Kimmy took that graphic that I made and used it to surprise me with a new signature for my posts at Surrogate Mothers Online:

Does the girl have skills or what?

  1. I personally would love to do the SITM exchange every 6 months. You can never get enough warm fuzzies!
Thank you for doing this and getting me excited about something. I haven’t been excited about much lately and this was fun.:)
The graphics rock! Thanks Kimmy for making them. I’ll head to your blog and show you some love.

  2. I would LOVE to do this every 6 months. This community has held me up in ways I can’t even tell you, and the sock exchange is a fantastic way for everyone to share the love.
    Good Job Moxie!
And awesome new badge Kimmy! I love it! It makes my blog look all fancy and stuff!
    Love you both!

  3. Moxie and Kimmy — you BOTH rock. Mad props to each of you.
I’m in for every six months, also. As a fairly new blogger, I am very glad I got in on this one. And HOPEFULLY I can pass on my “lucky” socks on the next go-round.

πŸ˜‰ Showing some love!! Glad you like them πŸ™‚
    Love ya friend,

  5. Wooo-hooo! I’m freaking out because I didn’t get package tracking and I have no idea if my buddy got theirs yet! Yeah I’m an idiot. Lesson learned!

Totally caught me being nosey and look what I found. I am Kimmy, Moxie’s friend and we are neighbors imagine that. WOW small world. I also live in Lake County Fl :). Just thought I’d share. Man I really need to start Blogging LOL. Although I am WAY not Eloquent and I am not even sure I spelled it right LOL!!

  7. I would LOVE to do this every six months! I had a ball picking out a pair of special socks for my buddy and was so psyched when my socks arrived. Thanks for creating this!
    Have a terrific week!

  8. Got my PC back..WOOOOHOOO!!! Apparently when your computer goes to a blue screen, you shouldn’t say “oohh hey now THAT’S a pretty color blue! How do I get it to stay as my desktop background, but without the words?”. Your in-house computer expert sighs and takes it away for HOURS and cleans it out. Woopsies…anyway..I just posted the SITM post and I think every 6 months is a good idea. AND I got my socks today..YAY!!!

  9. I didn’t get in on this round but if you did it annually I’d probably participate. More than that is hard to swing for me personally. I think it’s a brilliant idea though:-)

  10. Kimmy is def. the graphics queen! But I have to tell you something that made me laugh! I didn’t scroll all the way down on the Reproducina graphic and so I thought it was strange that it said “My flatulent emissions smell like Skittles and Moxie.”
LOL. Ok. It was funny to me. But I’m sleep deprived!

  11. Every 6 month is cool with me also. I do not have a lot of reader or comments but this did connect me to everyone and i really enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

  12. I didn’t recieve my person for the April 6th – 13th SITM. Admittedly, I am about as computer savy as a new born, so I can’t put the SITM emblom on my blog, but I still want to pratcipate. If you could please e-mail me at, I would appreciate it:))
