You Can Be a Gangsta, Too

My beloved JC Little really wanted to know how she could be down like a G, so she asked if she could interview me.

ME? Interviewed by THE JC Little? Be still, my hip-hop heart.

Read her post Gangsta 101 to learn from the one and only JW “J-Dub” Moxie to find out how to be a gangsta. (You’re allowed to refer to yourself in the third-person when you’re a gangsta.) You’ll also be able to witness JC’s evolution to Gangstahood. HAHAHA – evolution. I crack myself up. You won’t get that punchline unless you go read the damned post.

In other news, today I have a post up on Miss Unlimited about my periods. Fun stuff, right? Well, I manage to make it a little fun, even though I venture a bit into the waters of infertility. When I was a teenager, I don’t think the word infertility had ever even graced my ears. Maybe if instead of only hearing all the things that were normal about having your period, I would have known when my body had crossed over into abnormal territory. *soapbox on*I don’t necessarily think that teenage girls need to hear just how bad infertility and pregnancy loss can be, but they do need to be aware that 1 in 8 couples will experience some degree of it. For their own health, they do need to be aware of what menstrual irregularities warrant a trip to the doc. There just needs to be  more awareness for teen girls.
*soapbox off*

In OTHER other news, yesterday Frank and I went to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Loved it, loved the books, HATED the Swedish version of the movie. I think that Rooney Mara’s acting was a much better fit with Lisbeth’s characterization than was Noomi Rapace’s interpretation, who played the same character in the Swedish film. Thoughts? Anyone? Bueller?

In FINAL news, in case I don’t make it back here before the weekend is over, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HANNUKAH, playas. Kwanzaa starts on Monday. Prepare to be educated.

  1. You are too right! I think that ‘fertility management’ or whatever you want to call it should be part of our regular gyn care from the first time we see a crotch doc until we are too old to need ‘fertility management’. They should ask us about our periods, they should ask us when/if we are going to think about having kids, they should talk about different issues that can cause infertility instead of just giving us a pap smear and sending us on our merry way.

I just saw the Swedish version last night and I like it. Although that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like the American version better.

  2. I thought Noomi Rapace did an excellent job in the Swedish version. I thought she nailed Lisbeth – at least she pretty well embodied my vision of her. I don’t think Rooney Mara can be hard enough, but I haven’t seen the movie yet. It’ll be a year before I can get to it – maybe I can get a girl’s night going and drag some friends. Hmm – off to post that query on Facebook…

    Have a Great Christmas!

  3. I am dying to see the new Girl with a Dragon Tattoo movie. I didn’t see the Swedish version but would watch Daniel Craig read the phone book.

Glad it got your stamp of approval. A lot.
